Solid Organic Waste Management Facility

XACT Systems’ BioReactors will compost tons of solid organics daily at this new state-of-the-art solid organic waste management facility located in Goa, India.  In the final stages of completion, this massive facility will treat the solid organics waste of just the north half of the city.  The waste material coming into the plant is classified as MSW.

These 3 BioReactors are part of a comprehensive solid organic processing facility. The BioReactor Composting System by XACT Systems Inc. handles all the composting portion of the waste management treatment.

The treatments of the organics coming into the plant consist of fermentation processing (digester), and compost processing by the BioReactor Composting System.  In addition, the facility features bio-filters, transport truck weigh scales, bag openers, screeners, sorting stations, magnetic separators, balers, conveying systems and shredders.

an obvious choice.  Plus, the accelerated processing, cleanliness and 70% fill capacity of this composter pushed the invessel rotating drum BioReactor to the top of SFC’s composter list.  It is very exciting for both XACT Systems and SFC Environmental Technologies to see this project nearing completion.  The next time we show pictures of this site, all the brown clay earth showing will be covered in green vegetation because the finished compost will applied to the grounds.  Compost makes as an excellent soil amendment and supports plant growth in harsh, dry conditions in a remarkable way.

This BioReactor Composting Systems built by XACT is mounted on a rugged dual axle trailer for an operation which needs to travel from site to site–including remote locations. So, it has its own generator mounted on the front  (silver box).  The  entire system includes a  5′ x 15′ insulated BioReactor, a mixer/blender with conveyor, a control panel and the generator.  The volume of organic waste the 5 x 15 rotating drum can compost per day, based on a 4 day retention, is about 1.9 cubic yards (this value can vary depending on the waste to be composted and the length of time the waste remains in the BioReactor).  As you would expect from XACT, this mobile unit is available in other sizes of vessels and it can be made stationary as well.  Why you can even order this system with a bio-filter if need be.  It is perfect for pilot projects, R & D, institutional use, urban locations–the list goes on and on.   Feel free to contact us to discuss your next composting project.  Many thanks.  D

A composting facility design using 4 XACT BioReactors accommodates 2 different waste streams.  In this situation, the waste streams are biosolids and mixed solid organics.  Note the building in the foreground which has a wall dividing the tipping floor which keeps the waste streams separate.  The 2 vessels on the left compost one type of waste while the 2 on the right compost the other waste stream.  In this case, the discharged compost needed to stored for a period of time so it is automatically conveyed into the building in the background for that purpose.   One of the requirements of this facility being built is this jurisdiction was that there be odor control technology included.  Therefore there are 2 biofilters: one services the waste receiving building and the other services all the drums.    If you are thinking about how to design your composting facility, please give us a call.  The design possibilities know no limits.  Thanks so much for your time and consideration.  Doreen

Food waste composting with XACT’s BioReactor is under control.  Using negative ventilation, clean air is drawn into the vessel, and the exhausted air is captured in the duct work located at the discharge end of the BioReactor.  The air is directed to a biofilter for filtration before being released to the atmosphere.
