BioReactor: Strength of Steel
Turning tremendous weights of material in a rotating vessel demands the strength of steel for reliable performance over the long haul. The BioReactor is built with carbon steel walls that are 3/4″ thick on our large units, and even our smallest BioReactors have 3/8″ steel walls. (And you’ll never believe how thick the steel is of the riding rings…I will gladly share, so get in touch.)
If you are considering composting with the rotating drum technology and are conducting some comparative analysis, be sure to find what the drum walls are made. If they are steel, it is important to also know how thick the steel is. You will find out that some vessels are not even made of steel! In addition, the engineering of the XACT drum includes steel bars on the inside of the walls that run the length of the drum for added strength. Why build to such rugged standards? The answer is easy…we want you to be confident in the performance of the BioReactor when you first press the Start button and for many, many years thereafter. Please get in touch to learn more about the importance of steel in your next composter. Many, many thanks. D
